Connect a Scart lead from the TV to the VCR. Then program the VCR to record from 'AV' rather than from a numbered channel. The VCR will record whichever channel the TV is tuned to.

You'll only be able to record the programme which is being shown on the TV set because you've only got one digital tuner. (You can't watch one programme while recording another. Also, unless your TV incorporates its own timer system, you won't be able to go out and record programmes from more than one channel, at different times). You'll also need to leave the TV switched on, in order that the tuner is left switched on.

Will try this straightaway
Bit of further advice. I get fed up trying to record and having to watch the same programme, so I bought a freeview receiver from asda for abot �25 and connected that up and use that to record. bit fiddly but works o.k.
