bike lock

i have my bike locked on the railings outside my house. it is under cover but no amount of physical exertion or WD40 has managed to get the lock off and I am loathe to cut it. anyone know another way?

Try using a really good penetrating oil, leave overnight and see if that will do the trick. WD40 is not really a penetrating oil it is a moisture repellent.

Yep wd 40 does more harm than good, go with perose`s answer and buy yourself a decent penetrating oil (and not the type they sell at Ann Summers, couldn`t resist that one)

Brake fluid is one of the best penetrating oils.

Short answer is a hammer. Tap it gently in the direction needed to close it. Then in the other direction. Repeat these steps about three or four times. Gently. Now use key ( or combination) again, tapping gently to open.

Or , as my gramps used to say; " When in doubt, use a bigger hammer."
