Exact freezing point for diesel

Does anyone know the exact freezing point of diesel used in cars?

All the different companies use slightly different additives in their own petrol and diesel mixes so they will all vary, but a few years ago I remember reading that shell's diesel was good down to minus 40 in sweden....that may be a winter type fuel for the scandanavian market but it gives you a starting point......I would viit the major petroleum producers websites and contact them personally that way, I am sure they will be happy to help.

because deisel is a mixture of compounds not a pure substance it doesnt have an exact freezing points. different brands turn into greasy porridge at different temps.

Gone are the days when you had to worry about diesel waxing. All commercially available diesel now has additives to keep it usable down to about -40C, so you have no need to worry in this country. When I started driving to Austria, not all companies had converted to 'low temp diesel', so I had to settle for the highly illegal practice of adding a gallon of petrol to the truck tank (240 gal) of diesel. Once you can get the engine going, there is no further problem as more diesel is pumped from the tank than the engine uses, and this diesel (that has been warmed a bit by the engine) is returned to the tank and warms the rest up. So you should have no problems.

beg to differ. so poorly do petrol stations care for their fuel tanks that the accumulated water in deisel can still make it wax out. shame on you you lamellibranch related petrol stations.

Incitatus, also another reason for excess water is that tanks not given time to settle after delivery of fresh fuel. Applies to petrol too. Seen people desperate to use pumps during or immediately after delivery. Why do they have no patience, ehat the problems with waiting 10 minutes for good quality !
