To record from a Freeview box, it's best to have a Scart lead connecting directly between the output of the box and the input of the video recorder. (If the digibox has an output labelled 'VCR', 'DVDR', 'Aux' or 'Recorder', use that one for preference. Otherwise use 'TV' or, where appropriate, the sole output. If there's more than one Scart socket on the video recorder, look for one labelled 'Input', 'Aux' or possibly 'Cable'). It's sometimes possible to have other equipment in the line up (i.e. between the Freeview box and the recorder) but this can complicate matters. Keep it simple if possible!
You can only record from the Freeview box while it's switched on. Also, you can only record the channel which the box is tuned to. (You can't record one channel, while watching another, because you've only got one tuner). So, ensure that the Freeview box is on and switched to the correct channel. Then program the video recorder to record from 'AV' (and not from any numbered channel).
