My mother is 86 years old and has had to have her central heating system replaced. The 7-day, twice daily settings on the control unit are far too complex for her to cope with. Can it be replaced with a simple temperature ON-OFF, UP-DOWN control? If so, what's it's name and where can I get one? Are they easy to replace? Any help would be much appreciated.

You should have the facility already installed. There should be thermostatic radiator valves. Just leave the heating on but turn the thermo valves down or up per room.
Why does she need to cope with it? Why can't you set it for her - once set, it need never be touched again...
