How do you drive a semi automatic car?

Looking to buy a smart car which has semi automatic gears, i.e. no clutch but shift up and down controlled by driver. Having never driven anything but manual cars I am a little unsure of how to drive one? The main concerns i have are initially pulling away and slowing down/stopping at roundabouts, would i need to press the brake while selecting drive (D) to prevent the car moving?

you just drive like a manual,but with no clutch,very close to a tiptronic one.

I have driven Ford Fiestas with a semi automatic gearbox - very easy to get the hang of - but soon got bored with playing with it and drove mostly in automatic mode
