i dont know for sure but i did see one of those property progs where they said that as turkey will be joining the eu now is an ideal time to buy as prices will surely rocket after the event.

It'll be fine until the shortage of oil or global warming pushes up the price of cheap flights, then most won't be able to afford to jet off to these far-flung corners.
At that point cottages in Dorset and Cornwall start rocketing again.

Turkey is a mainly Muslim country.

If the situation between Muslims and the west continues to be bad (another terrorist attack like 9/11?) then maybe having property in a Muslim country would not be a good idea.

I REALLY hope Turkey DONT join the EU, last thing we need is 80 million more Muslims being able to travel anywhere in the EU.

carndonagh - turkey may well be a muslim country but not all muslims are terrorists - and before u ask no - im english , white and christain(sort of)
i been to turkey in july (kusadasi) we went on many trips and excursions and every rep said the house prices are on the up - (is that happening i thought that was gainst what ata turk wanted - and turkish people love him!)
turkish economy is on the up - so houseprices are sure to follow - turkey is also a rising holiday destination - brits are fed up with - smarmy italians, rude spanish people in resorts - turkish people are the loveliest i have ever met - once people realise what sort of place it is actually like - they will return = tourism increasing -

i say go for it !

the only downfall is - turkey has the most expensive fuel prices nearly �1.20 a litre! so its dolmus travel for u

Just back from Marmaris and yescats is right. Turkish people are indeed nice, friendly and helpful, lots more than some English people

Be Very Carefull
A friend of mine bought a place in Turkey and spent a lot of money on it for two years, he rented it out until he retired then he sold his house in England and moved out to enjoy his retirement in Turkey. He was there only 5 months and some one knocked on his door and told him it was thier property. It turned out it had been sold to 4 different parties. I suggest you get VERY good legal advice before you do anything. my friend lost every thing in England and Turkey

druiaghtagh, i've just come back from mamaris and whilst the turkish peeps maybe ever so nice , the anoying gits all along the beach front ( scuse me, you like my menu?, you dropped something, scuse please , and all the non stop hassle . ) means i cannot recomend marmaris as a holiday resort. the hassle was enough to ruin my holiday. hope they learn to leave tourists allone and let them decide for themselves if they want to use these peoples establishments.my son had to threaten the grape seller when he hassled my wife, lucky i wasn't there or he'd gone for a paddle in the sea!!! rude and aggresive to a lady he thought was on her own.
