calor cooker, oven is 2,5 kw. the gas bottle holds 74kg of gas. how long will the oven run on one bottle? how long would a one kw ring run for? are there any tables that give this sort of info, or is this a suck it and see type of equation?

There are two versions of Calor gas, which complicates thing but only slightly ... The red bottles contain Propane, the blue contain Butane. Calorific values (CV) of these gases are 49.9MJ/kg and 49.2MJ/kg respectively. At 2.5kW, the oven will use 74kg in 1000*CV*74/2.5 seconds because a kW is a kJ/s. I make that 410 hours.

Are you sure about the mass of gas in abottle? I think a standard Calor propane bottle holds 47kg, not 74kg.
