Wet shoes

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but....My shoes are completely soaked from todays weather, but I have to use them tomorrow. Does anyone know how to quickly and safely dry them out? At the moment I am trying to use a hair dryer but they are still very wet.

Stuff them with newspaper i have done it and it helps

What are they made of? You could stuff them with newspaper which might absorb the moisure and keep the shape and leave them on a radiator overnight.

Its leather on the outside, and on the inside - I'm not so sure (what they are made of - sorry I'm quite ignorant). Thanks for the quick answers so far, I'm not really in the mood for wet feet tomorrow!

put crumpled newspaper in, and in a moderately warm place, but not intense heat, this will damage the leather. Make sure they are well polished, this keeps the rain out of the leather.

do the newspaper thing, as folk have said, dont dry them quickly with a hair drier as the leather will shrink, leave them in a warm place wi paper in overnight

Change the paper a few times, as it absorbs the moisture.

Alternatively a blow torch will get them bone dry in no time.

the newspaper is the best initial option, then do not be attempted to dry them on a radiator or anything, if you still have the box, there should be some silicone sachets in there, store them in the box with the sachets, and as many more as you can find in other boxes, and then with the lid closed the silicone will absorb any really soaked in moisture. after a few days, remove the shoes and give them a clean with a good leather cleaning spray and then a leather protector spray, so that next time you wear them in the rain, they are slightly more water resistant!

The thing is, I put on both polish and waterproofer every fortnight, but still the water seeks through! I'm just one of them people where, if something can go wrong - it does :-)

You will not have used a water proofer, that is not usually a home use product, you may have used a protector that gives a water resistance, water proofing that you use on camping equipment can be used on some fabric shoes, but it doesn;t tend to work on leather. If it rains wear wellies lol

I find the newspaper idea works, and then a night next to - but not touching - the hot water tank in the airing cupboard.

as long as they are free of metal, use a microwave ! i have before and it works a treat but only do it in short bursts.

If they're still wet in the morning, give them a quick hairdryering. Park them under the radiator overnight.

Put them through the spin cycle in the washing machine, which gets out most of the water, then dry them in front of an electric heater.

buy a new pair,then you will have 2 pairs for the winter.
