Saving Gas Energy
2 Answers
If you turn off radiators you are not using around the house does this reduce the amount of gas units you are using or do you have to just turn it off at the boiler to make a difference?
The reason I ask is because I recently received a huge gas bill so any money saving tips would be appreciated!!

Think of each radiator as a cooling panel. The radiator allows the water inside to cool by "radiating" the heat into the atmosphere. So the water circulating the system will be cooled by the time it gets back to the boiler . So, the boiler then has to reheat it. If the radiators were to be turned off in the rooms not used , the water would stay warmer in the system for longer so therefore the boiler thermostat would "kick in" less frequently !
