I presently live in Thailand and have a 1965 mgb with toyota 1.8i engine and running gear. When I turn the ignition on there is no ignition light . When I start the car the ignition light is coming on.There are no charging problems just the light working in reverse. Any ideas?

Hi freddiepp, could be a wire has come off your alternator or the alternator is faulty and not charging the battery. Another reason could be your fanbelt slipping and not spinning the alternator enough. And the battery may have a faulty cell. I know you said there are no charging problems but you may be using up what charge is left in the battery so for now appears ok. A garage that sells batteries could easily test it for you. Good luck.
