Ocean depths.
6 Answers
Does anyone know a web site that will give ocean depths in parts of the world, rather than telling you how they do it? I would like to know the depth of the water off the Norwegian coast at 68d 43.7N. 04d 20E. Obviously not precisely, but in that area. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I agree with EDDIE51. Nautical charts are the answer. You'll probably find you'll have to source hard copies - this is one of those occasions when the internet is not much use.
Your contact should know where to source them. If not public libraries in the nearest major towns in Norway will undoubtedly have the charts and may provide you with the information if you phone or email them.
Alternatively, you may find it easier to contact your nearest Norwegian Embassy. If you're in luck, they probably have the information on the premises. Failing that, they'll either find out for you or direct you to a resource for free.

Bathymetric charts for that area indicate a depth of around 3000m for those precise co-ords. That area is on a slope ranging from 2000m to 5000m.
Here is a not very accurate diagram to show what I mean, with an X to mark the spot...
