old style or conventional boilers and combi-boilers use most energy/gas when heating the radiators up from cold and then using less energy to maintain the temperature.
if you have a room stat fitted and your home is well insulated and you keep your doors and windows shut then it could be cheaper to leave the heating on all day at a lower temperature.
we do advise that with an old style system with a hot water tanks it is cheaper to leave the water on all the time rather than heating up from cold.
i would have thought so. i have seen some of the digital wireless programmers on the new worcester boilers and there pre-set programs drop the temperature down at night to a comfortable sleeping level rather than turning it off altogether.
welli have to turn it down manually for overnight. usually down to 15 degrees or so. roughly the same when i go out. saying all this, ive had my gas bill for a week and `havent got round` to opening it yet!!
hi claire28, just opened the red one! quarterly gas bill 150! thats 12.50 per week! same with the leccy. (2 bed old/high ceilings terraced) i think thats ok?
