I read in the guiness book of records that some scientists have managed to make light stop. if this is so, how would they have done that and also how could they proove that it has stopped moving as you wouldnt be able to see it because there is no light emmiting from it, thanks in advance guys/gals !

i know that they measure the (light)energy that they put in to the system and measure what come out the other end. they put the light in stop it for a while then let is go again and see if the same light comes out.
It was done by passing a laser thru atomic vapours. The vapours essentially weigh the photons down. I think what happens is information is transfered from the photons to the atoms in the gas leaving an atomic imprint which can released later. Its all explained on this link :
