BROS - Maybe? answerphone song

In 1990 I had a record (yes one of those round vinyl things!) and I recorded it on my answerphone as the message. It had lyrics like 'sorry I'm not home', 'leave a message', something like that, ideal for an answerphone. It could have been by Bros or someone like that. Possibly a b-side. Well it's really bugging us trying to remember what it was called. I have looked on all the Bros websites I can find and nothing there, so maybe it was someone else.
Any ideas of who song this cheesy song around 1989/1990 MUCH appreciated.

Did it go

Hello, this is Jody
I'm sorry but I'm not home
If you leave me your name and number
I'll call you when I get home.

Jody I'm sorry and I'm feeling oh so low
...
Was it possibly "Don't walk away" by Jade? That starts with an answerphone message. That was 1993

Almost there Ethel, you're thinking of "Hello, this is Joanie" by Paul Evans. I considered that but that was quite an old recored even in 1990. There is also Telephone line by ELO.
Thanks mortartube - it was driving me mad, trying to think of the name of that one.
Was it this?
Wasn't it an astronaut trying to call home?

I seem to recall there was a 'wooosh' sound of the 'space ship' LOL
It's not Babe, by Take That is it?

The astronanut theory is ringing a bell. I remember a voice at the beginning that sounded like it was over a radio and could have been from a space ship etc.
Did it go something like....

"Hey, how ya doing, sorry we couldn't be home (or something like that)...so leave your name and ya number and we'll get back to you"??

I was a massive brosette and I'm sure it wasn't them...I'm sure it was someone like Terence Trent Darby maybe, or someone similar? Arg, it's bugging me now!!

maybe jade (mortartube)?

shamblerjone, I think those lyrics are the ones, but still cant think of who it is or how it actually goes.
Arg, I've asked a few people, it's really bugging me now. It was to a kind of hip hop / r&b beat....I'll definitely post if I find out!! x
Yes, the one I am thinking about (spacemen) did sound as if it was coming over a radio

Hmmm, it's bugging me now! LOL
De La Soul had a track that had lyrics like that in a song Called Ring Ring Ring (Hey Hey Hey)

"Hey how ya doin'
Sorry ya can't get through
Why don't you leave your name
And your number
And I'll get back to you
"

I can't upload videos from youtube, but here's a link yo watch the video

CKTC could only ever be desrcibed as pop
If the spaceman bit rings bells fo rthe OP, it ain't De La Soul
