My printer won't print

I am having trouble with my printer which is connected directly to the computer. I have typed a letter and the printer goes through the motions and sounds as though it is printing but the paper comes out blank. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I think it's run out of ink or the heads are blocked.

Has it got a cleaning function?

I agree with Ethel, unless you've done what I did once and set the font colour to 'white', very embarrasing.
Go to Start/Printers and Faxes/ when you should see your printer icon. Right click that and you should get a set of files, one of which should be Utilities. Left click that and you will get your options for head cleaning and alignment.
