Industrial Injury Benefit
1 Answers
Has anyone else ever claimed Industrial Injury Benefit and do you know whether they backdate the pay. My husband shattered his thumb at work a year ago and had five months off work (he is a paver), it wasn't until the other day that someone mentioned the benefit to him.
The government obviously likes to keep this benefit quiet as not one person mentioned this to him at the time of the accident, and therefore he has effectively missed out on a years worth of the money.

To qualify for this you have to have an injury or illness as a result of your employment.
Then as a result of this injury/illness you would have to suffer a permanent disability. The amount of disability is then assessed by a doctor and you receive the appropriate amount of benefit. No benefit is payable if the amount of disability is assessed at less than 14%.
No benefit is paid merely because of an accident at work you must meet the criteria above.
