repair of dyson d4 upright

can anyone tell me how to get the electric cable from the upright wand as there is a break in the wire. There is a rubber funnel round the end of which i cannot break. I need to get the cable out and pair down to replace or rejoin the wire. Thanks, waiting with anticipation and screw driver.
