a friend of mine has bought an american fridge freezer but has wooden floors.when they came to deliver it, the deliveryman said you cant have that style with wooden flooring as it weighs too much - 150kg when empty.

does this sound right ? sounds stupid to me as surely a washing machine weight more than this?

Perhaps he wasn't too keen moving it in! i would think on a ground floor, against a wall it would be OK.If in doubt set it on a square of 15 or 20mm Stirling board to spread the load more evenly

thats what we've puty it down to too!
That is a big appliance, but two grown men (weighing 165 lbs each) standing in the same floor space as the appliance would weigh the same (330 lbs).

If two grown men can stand on the same floor space, why can't an appliance?

Unless you have termite damage or some sort of structural problem, I think the delivery man was pulling her leg.

I have lived in America for almost 50 years and have yet to hear of anyone's fridge and freezer crashing through their wooden floor.
