I kid you not..... We recently bought a new toaster at work - cheap and cheerful (http://www.popcorn-uk.com/catalog/product_info .php?products_id=17209) but our slices of toast are flung across the kitchen .... I have never known such an energetically springy machine.... Does anyone have any ideas how to calm the dratted critter down a bit or will it just stop throwing the toast up in the air as it gets older ?

pmsl, beware of low flying toast !!!

I thought that only happened in comedies and not for real, could you direct it back onto a plate with a badminton racket?
You have to be out there with it in its orgasmic final moments. It's the same with my washing machine, I have to sit on it during its final spin otherwise it wanders around the kitchen.

Good luck though, try the new Heinz Beans with very hot Meatballs. A bit poofy from the tin, but you can oomf them up with fresh habaneros.

LOL Wee Al.... seriously I kid you not - sometimes the toast ends up at the other end of the kitchen (it's only a tiny galley kitchen but it's still rather annoying). We take it in turns to stand guard with hands but since we are *supposed* to be working, not playing table tennis, we are all a bit fed up of it.

I can see us buying another (less active) toaster at this rate !
I guess you all will have to stand around with your plates waiting for a catch. lol
its the best exercise at brekkie time ive heard of (cept ehm morning rolls lol)

soz dont have a serious answer, its way too hilarious

Whiffey - you have a simple solution - just buy a new machine..... ours is only a few weeks old and far too young to be consigned to the scrap heap of life.... and we are all veggie anyway, so the meatball idea won't work here.... sorry !
You need to buy heavier bread. This is the simplest solution to your dire predicament.

LOL Builder's Mate... some of that bread is my own home made and is quite solid like see... (I'm partial to a bit of wholewheat)..... but it still goes *boing* in that effing toaster....
Ours does the same thing: We have now placed it so that it is partially under a shelf. When the bread flies out, it gets smacked straight back down again.
Seriously!! My sides are actually hurting!! Its the mental picture you paint!
I might order myself one of these babies! Sounds like a right laugh. LOL

I also have no serious solution though.

ROFL at the image of you trying to catch flying toast ....:-D
Hehe- can you YouTube it, I'd love to see it!

Have you thought of a butterfly catcher at all?
Lol@BOO , classic
I'm surprised you have a toaster as we've been told that H&S regs mean that we can't have one. As I understand it that's not just company policy but HSE advice. Maybe they're trying to tell you something.
