Religion for Gays & Transgendered People
48 Answers
I have seen many incidents of Gays and Lesbians talking about their Christian faith and have always been perplexed by this. Don't the major religions of the world condemn the Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered communities? Which religions are truly accepting and tolerant of them and do the GLTG's truly feel comfortable within their faith communities or do they have churches where predominately Gays and Lesbians attend.

The Bible condemns homosexual acts, and other sexual practices such as adultery, as sin.
However, Jesus forgave the woman caught in the act of adultery, and told her to go and sin no more. In fact, He was more hostile to the crowd who wanted to stone her, for not being forgiving.
Liberal Protestantism accepts gays and lesbians even if they are still active in their sexual practice, and, as you know, many have been ordained themselves.
Any church or person worthy of the name, "Christian," must follow Christs' example and accept all people, regardless of their sin, but it is up to all of us to try and live our lives according to Christs' impossibly perfect standard, trying our best to turn our backs on our own particular sin, and repenting when we inevitably fail.

Thanks Theland. I would love to have some kind of faith because I do feel lost and wonder if it is the lack of a central belief system in my life that has led me to pursue courses and actions that have not really been in my best interest and have probably led to my present health difficulties.
On another note Theland, I didn't understand your comments the other day about a friends list or something, so I haven't been able to reply. As for my health, yesterday was a good day, but I'm feeling down today, but am forcing myself to do things around the flat.

My understanding of the many religious icons out there are that they love you no matter what so I doubt you've much to worry about on that front.
As to anyone worthy of the name 'christian,' anyone calling themselves human wouldn't be a complete turd to someone needing a bit of TLC. Most people are human in my experience.
Nice to see you down here.

Ripley, are you musical? We have a cyber band down here on R & S, run by the world famous maestro, Luna-tic, known to his many friends as simply, Luna, who can knock out a tune on any piece of cutlery or crockery you would care to mention.
All you need is a bottle of wine next to your keyboard, or any other implement of any vice you may have, fags, chocolates etc, and you are all set for the next band practice, the venue to be revealed by consensus when the other musicians arrive.
But no giggling! There are no other rules.

Theland, you do know mibs is now a member, don't you? He blows across the tops of empty bottles and conjures up a spiffing tune. He has a fancy name for the art, but I can't remember what it is. Pretty clever though - and such an asset to the band.
Mibs If you're around, what was the name for that again?
