when the tunnels were dug for the underground in London, where did all the spoil go....all that clay/soil/rock/other stuff from so many stations, tubes, escalators, flood defence piping....so much to get rid of! Someone out there must know where it all went!

As today, a lot was carted away to tips (old gravel pits etc.), but a significant amount was used in the construction of the embankments on both north and south sides of the river to guard against flooding. Some was also used to reclaim marshland in East London.
