apple ipod first generation how do I conect my ipod to the computer with the usb lead ,there is no sign of it being connected to my comp is there a user manual because each time I search for one it sends me to the apple site to be told there page unavailable can not load the page help

Is first gen iPod not firewire only?

fo3nix thanks for the reply I am not sure if this iPod is firewire only, dont know for sure what that is, but the lead has a usb plug and the other end goes in the ipod but in the mddle of the lead there is another plug about 1 inch wide with a flat connection dont know if this if the firewire connection.dONT EVEN KNOW WHERE IT IS SUPPOSED TO FIT.However the apple site sent info on( ipod not recognised by my comp when usb driver not installed or out of date)been through the tips and says the drivers have been updated but still no luck .Ready to give up

Well, a few things:

1st gen iPod is mac-only.

I assume you're using a mac.

thanks again for your response fo3nix it is not like the firewire port in your picture and also I am using a dell computer with windows xp on it did not realise that it can only be used with a mac so what can I do? if anything !

As far as I know... nothing.

Get a 3rd gen or newer iPod. Or any of the minis or nanos.
