how do you set the combination to lock the case.?It has never been set to anything. What is the factory setting ?

Normally they are factory set to 000.

How you change them can depend on the type, some have a small recessed lever which must be held in the appropriate position while the code is set.

Mine are set by pressing the catch release, and holding in the release position, while adjusting to the new code. All new cases will be supplied with instructions on how to adjust the code.
