Garden fence sprayer
6 Answers
Has anyone bought a garden fence sprayer and found it as easy to use as the bloke on the advert. Everyone I have spoken to has said they are absolute rubbish. I'm quite handy at D.I.Y but i'm bu**ered if I could get it to work properly.

The problem is they do a fair job on stains or other very thin applications but, as you've noted, if one needs to apply a thick product, such as acrylic latexes, it doesn't prduce enough pressure tomove it. If I have that kind of job to do, we have renatal places that rent the professional machines for about $50 (U.S.) a day.

Don't belive all that you see on the adverts, they are trying to sell you something.
It is of course faked on TV, a very pale fence turned mid brown (or green depending which advert) with a single pass of a sprayer would require such a lot of paint it would be dripping down the fence.
I saw one in B&Q and thought how much?
They don't rate them here either.

Used the cuprinol one last week and it was OK but agree messy and hose slackened off a couple of times under pressure. I was using it to get into gaps in a double sided fence and it did the job, but reckon probably would actually be quite good on panel fences. If you have the time though I would still go for either roller or dirty great brush. Personally probably won't use it again.
Trust me. Iv`e been in the business for 35 years. Theres no shortcut. Cheap is cheap at the end of the day. If you have a large area to cover go and hire a spray. Tell the chap exactly what you aim to do and they will give you a spray to suit the job. I use an airless spray, easy to use and easy to clean. Dont use a spray anywhere near vehicles or anywhere that may gat wind blown vapour, i.e. washing on a line etc. Be warned professional sprays do a fantastic job, but a like a racing cars compared to the things from diy shops.
If you fancy doing it with a brush, dont buy synthetic. They are rubbish. Try and get a proper hair brush.
Best of luck.
