People are spending LOTS of money on a huse, and it would make sense that you lay out a small amount of money to feel confident you havethe right information. Plus, i dont know what the mortgage co. would say. Also, how on earth will you capture the market of people who might want to buy? its unlikely the estate agent would give away details f people who have made an offer
I own the house opposite and the property is up for auction. I spent 500+ and didn't buy the house, so I'd like to recoup some of the loss. Since it is not an estate agent, I'm hoping that they will allow my details to be passed on to any potential buyers who can purchase the survey at a vastly reduced price.

Its a while since we had a survey but at the time it had a front sheet on it saying that it had been prepared for OUR use only and that any surveyor liability for error or omission applied only to us. This liability is (or was) part of the reason that a survey costs so much.
Basically what i am saying is that you might be able to sell on the information but the legal liability protection won't pass to the person you sell to thus way devaluing the survey.
I think that this is some of the reason why the HIP needn't include a survey as it wouldn't protect the buyer against error or omission....I guess if there was a problem then the buyer would need to sue the seller (if they could prove that the seller knew about the problem) who could then sue the surveyor.
You might want to ask the surveyor who prepared the survey whether you can sell on but TBH I cannot see why they would say yes when they or another surveyor can charge another survey fee
