Whats the diff between eau de toilette and aftershave?

Like, how are you supposed to use each one? Is one of them a spray and the other one you pour? And do you spray the spray straight on or into your hand first then onto your face? I've always wondered even though I've been shaving for 20 odd years.

Eau de toilette is quite mild and can be applied quite generously, requiring a sharp intake of breath, and a sqeal of agony to be reprerssed by clamping the jaws together and taking short stagger around the bathroom trying to get your face between your knees.
Aftershave is for the 'real man', and the white-hot agony of its application can be countered by clamping the jaws around the rim of the basin, which can leave unsightly teeth imprints, but does prevent any wimpsih tendencies to sob like a baby and roll on the floor.
