i really need to change the email addy in my profile, cos all my notifications go to my work email (i joined the site before i had a home computer), but it doesnt seem to save it when i change it. is it possible without changing my username?

no it doesn't seem to work changing it in your profile, your best chance is to use the contact us link at the bottom of the page and email the ED requesting your email address be changed.
