xbox 360 xbox live connection was severed

hi guys iv got a problem with my xbox live, when i connect to xbox live and then join a game online for example pes08 i can connect to a server and then get into a match online and it will allow me to stay in the match for about 5 minutes and then it just stops and then a message comes up saying that the xbox live connection was severed, and then returns me to the pes08 menu this also happens in other games such as halo3, iv been suggested getting a gold ethenet cable to go from my modem to router and iv been told to open ports in my router but im struggling on how to do this, does anyone have answers :(

with pes it may be the other player has disconnected, what message do you get for halo3 and gta iv as i have never seen a 'severed' message.

well during online play of pes08 every match i play so far iv tried roughly 20 odd times and it always does the same thing and says the same message xbox live connection was severed blah blah blah you have been returned to main menue. and whilst playing halo3 no message comes up but it just kicks me from the game and sends me back the game menu, so i dunno what to do a few of my friends have suggested getting a gold ethenet cable and open the ports in the router but i dont really know much about that.

test your network settings using the relevant blade. i think you will find that your NAT is 'strict' which drastically reduces the number of games you will find.

ok tar ill give it a go but cant get on til monday so ill give it a go then, thanks for your help ill reply back when i tried it tell ya what the crack is.
