Just been to check my gas meter reading, as i am about to change companies the first time in 2 years, whilst checking found a card left in side by scotttish gas networks, it said that it appears that the gas installation pipework at your property may not have electrical equipotenial bonding correctly fitted,and it advises me to contact the owner or his agent, my god i havent checked my meter till today, why oh why didnt they post the card through my door at the time,i am so angry as i cannot contact my housing agent till tomorrow mind day one day will not make much difference,there isnt even a date on the card or a name, just a diagram on the back idiots!!!!!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.No, you're not going to blow up. Equipotential Bonding relates to the earthing of any metal that has the potential to become live (If a live wire touched it). Your gas line might be correctly bonded within the house.
But as a meter reader can't see that, they have to post a warning for it to be checked, just ask your landlord to send an electrician round to check all your bonding.

Dont worry puddie a main equipotential bonding only means a 10mm or a16mm earth wire going to your main gas and water pipe you will not blow up and if they say that there may not be one there it does not mean to say that there is not.
They have to do this to cover themselves an earth bond should be within 8 inches off the main gas pipe coming out of your gas meter but often it is not and even if there is none there then its nothing to do with gas its electiks I test properties out every day.
