CSA.....Hmmmm ok! HELP

My ex currently only pays �20per wk for 2 children. This calculation was done over a yr ago by the CSA, when he had very low earning's. However things have now changed, well since Feb 08 he has been on �18,000 per annum. (He has even told me this) He has one new child with his new partner. I have used the CSA calculator & estimate he should be paying �60per wk for my 2 children with him...thats with the new child taken on board. He refuses to update the CSA! I have phoned them & written 2 letters....heard nothing yet!! This is unfair. I'v recenty been told the CSA wont even back date it to when he started his job in Feb 08? Is this right? Apparently they only do a new calculation from when he informs them of change with new payslips...& they start the new amount from when they receive them!!? So my ex is allowed to deliberatly not send payslips to delay further! Surely not? The CSA have been involved for a over a yr. Please help. Thank you.

im not all that sure about the csa calculations ... 60 pounds a week seems high for someone oly getting about 260 pounds a week, with another kid and household to support

Thanks.....he's informed me he takes home �387 a week! Who knows.....Anyway I have used your estimate of his take home at �260 & according to CSA website...he should be paying �44 a week! So shows hes still under paying. Do you know if they backdate it then? Website not very helpful with regards to that....remember CSA are already involved with our Family & it does state he SHOULD INFORM OF ANY CHANGES! Pls help?

Tetjam, for gods sake! Get some morals, by the way are you an absent parent by any chance with that mentality. I WORK , I take unpaid leave to look after kids in the holidays etc etc, my ex, refuses to pay a penny but swans around in new clothes & a 4x4 claiming to be skint. He would rather not see his daughter than pay maintenance.

Sponging of an ex????? No any decent parent would be helping to support their childs upbringing you eejit!

You see no end of these cases on 'Trisha's shows of men crying pity for the neglect of their children after meeting them once grown. The CSA can't cope with defaulting parents who usually join the black economy once their wages are docked.

Tis a mean amount to be paying for a child but if that's all the parent is willing to pay then that's the worth they put on the child. Horrid to have to face such a situation so u may have to seek an alternative income ie from SS until you are able to work.

Unsure of where you got your info regarding my employment status....but for the record I am an Office Manager who works Full Time...always have.

That pays no relevance to a father paying towards the welfare of his children...like I do! What if both parents lost interest & both refused to pay...the children would end up in care. Its down to BOTH parents to look after their children. Der Brain.

Also I'd like to add here....If I were a Millionaire (I wish)...I would still persit that my childrens father pay a contribution towards their care. I did not make the children on my own....We BOTH wanted children! We were together 10 yrs & things didnt work out.....Why should a father just get to walk away...thats morally wrong! He should want to contribute!

You are SO right - they should pay and even WANT to pay. Whatever reason parents split up, it is not the children's fault and they still need to be cared for. I had a similar experience with my ex and never really got what I was owed. In another thread I was called bitter when I mentioned this, but I am not, I just wanted my children to be cared for. They are now adults but it was a struggle.

How odd...just heard from CSA....they have said he should be paying �56 per wk!!!! I'll let you know if anything actually comes of it. Doubt it though...CSA arent very hot right now!!

Tetjam how narrow minded can you get - the father has a responsibility to conbribute to the up keep of his kids-what makes you think its all down to the mother to provide food, clothes heating, hot water, presents for parties, shall i go on !!!!!!!

My ex was paying me through the csa aswell- it gets reviewed on a yearly basis-my year was nearly up when he had a child by someone else and my payments went down. when i reached the year i phoned the csa and asked for a recalculation. payslips were requested from him and they re looked at the situation. i would continue ringing them if i were you.

If your ex has other kids then the contribution halves so I doubt you would get much more than you are getting

attened a local surgury with your local MP, its the only way you get any answer and the sooner the better!!
