Advice, please!
I wasnt really sure where to post it, so I decided on here.
I have 3 scars on my thigh (which Ive already asked questions about) and I was thinking about going to the doctors to see if there was anything they would reccomend for them
I know that when your 16 you can go on your own and they wont be able to tell your parents, and thats a plus cos I cant let my mom find out
BUT i dont know what to do! Lol, ive never just wandered into a doctors before.
Can I go to any GP, or does it have to be YOUR one, so to speak? Can you just go up to the desk and ask for an appointment? Will they ask for any information? And if I get an appointment do I just go in and start talking about my scars, and will they think im wasting their time? And will there be anything they can do?
God im clueless, haha
any help would be very much appriciated.

You could try Bio Oil as suggested, although it's not an immediate remedy and will take time to see any improvement, or you could try Cica Gel, which is like a silicon patch, which is stuck onto the scars and worn for at least 8 hours per day. The patch will help to rehydrate scarring, flatten and improve, but again, takes time.
You can discuss this with your GP, however, you may not get the result you hope for. It really depends how sympathetic your particular GP is.
As regards to treatment, you could have scar revision surgery. I had an indented scar on my lower leg, a couple of inches below my knee. This resulted from having a surgical pin inserted for traction, when I broke my leg as a child. I'd been conscious about it for years as it was ugly and looked like a hole. Anyway, I had scar revison surgery and was very impressed with the results, since having the surgery 3 years ago, I've also been massaging in Bio Oil to the new hairline scar and it's hardly noticeable now.
I don't know if you will be able to have surgery on the NHS, you would probably have to do a good job convincing your GP, that the scars are causing psychological distress. Privately, you would expect to pay anything from 1000 upward.

Go to or telephone your doctor. As an adult, over 16, you just make an appointment. The person at the counter will maybe ask you what it's for, as they tend to for stats or to point you in direction of best doctor. You just tell them it's for a scarring problem you want resolving. Then tell the doctor the history in complete confidence.
