Bad news for errant fathers
159 Answers
I read about the new body that replaces the CSA today and was glad to see that some of their powers will include:
Introduce powers to confiscate passports, driving licences, introduce curfews, and tagging of non paying non resident parents.
Introduce a "name and shame" program, making public the details of non resident parents who have failed to pay maintenance.
It's about time! Imagine the embarassment of being named and shamed for not paying for your child! I do hope that it gets desired effect.
What do you think?

It makes my blood BOIL to know that there are fathers out there who pay NOTHING towards their children. Selfish b@stards. Why should I (and millions of others) have to pay for the upkeep through benefits for their kids? Beggars belief. The kids didn't ask to be brought into this world but those absent dads (and mums in some cases) should hang their heads in shame. I for one would LOVE to see them named and shamed.
Hey JoCan,
Its all very well having the power but no good if you dont use it.
Unfortunately the CSA were'nt set up for the children as the government like to spout.
They were set up to claim back all the benefits that were being paid to lone parents. This is why the CSA does not work.
If any one needs any advice tho, I know more than most of their employees
lol

For example.
Did you know, that if the absent parent owes you large amount of arrears that you can apply for an advance payment?
The government will pay you the amount in full - once they have reassesed and wiggled the figures a bit - plus loss of interest and perhaps compensation. The absent parent then just pays the government back on a monthly basis as usual.
Just bear in mind that the arrears I was owed dropped from 7,000 to less than 3,000.
