I have Aol broadband set up at my home in Swansea. During the week i work away in Birmingham and take my Laptop with me. I stay at my parents house in Brum and connect to my Aol account via an unsecured wirelss router within range. However, this router has now gone off air and all the others are security encrypted so i cant connect through them.
Does anyone know how i can connect to the internet when im away from Swansea? Aol wont let you use your ****** from 2 different addresses, they nly enable your telephone line at one address.

do your parents have broadband?
P.s..... sorry now having read the question again...

So you know you can illegally connect to somebody else's connection via wireless......

so if your parents have broadband use theirs with their permission legally!!

illegally??

and no they dont have broadband or a computer, i cant afford to pay for broadband at 2 different addresses?
an unsecured wireless router within range?

That router would belong to a neighbour that is paying for their internet but hasn't secured their wireless... using their connection is illegal.

are your parents good friends with any neighbours that might have one of the secured networks... you may convince them to give you the key to use it

if not then no you are stuffed. sorry!
You could buy a mobile broadband dongle for 30 or 40, then pay as you go to use the internet.

i didn't realise it was illegal, thought it was the same as if you use your laptop in one of those wifi hotspots they have in city centres.

thanks ethel i have been thinking about one of those dongle things from the mobile one companies, would i still be able to use my aol account thru it though?

i used to be able to connect to aol anywhere thru dial up but the crafty sods have changed the system so that you have to pay a broadband subscription and a dial up subscription.
I don't know if you'd be able to access aol - what do you need to that for?
