Hair extensions help
9 Answers
Hey everyone, I was wondering whether any hairdressers or hair extension experts would be able to halp me please? I had to have treatment for a tumour on my leg at the end of last year until April this year. Unfortunately my hair fell out because of the treatment and it's growing back now. At the moment it's about the same length as Victoria Beckham's, maybe a little bit longer.
I was wondering whether it'd be possible to get hair extensions or whether i'd have to wait for my hair to grow a little longer? I really don't like my hair at the moment, as I don't think short hair suits me. Also, what are the best techniques? Which Techniques cause less damage to your natural hair and how much should I expect to pay for good quality hair extensions?
Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks :-)

i cant help too much as only qualified in one type of extensions, but i can tell you what i know!
I have done Cinderella hair extensions, which is the pre bonded hair, which is the most popular and common type, eg victoria beckham, cheryl cole. It involves heating up the bond and attaching to individual hairs on your scalp about 1/2 inch away from the scalp.
We are advised the clients own hair needs to be at least 5 inches long as i remember.
Personally i use clip in extensions, you could try this but i think your hair will need to be longer.

i am a hairdresser and if you came to see me i would definately advise against them for the moment. i do hair development bonded hair extensions. Thinking about it logically your body must have been through so much stress to cause your hair to fall out, i personally would take the opinion that your hair would still be quite fragile, regardless of length. If the root of your hair is still weak, it probably wouldnt take the weight of an extension. I have known someone who had similar problems to this after a bout of ill health. My advise would be to keep the hair you have healthy, and try not to rush into anything. On the plus side i had my hair cut to 1/2 inch long, and was in a bob less than 6 months later, so maybe it wont take as long to grow as you think. good luck I hope this helps.
Thanks alot. My hair is in really good condition at the moment, but i think i'll just grow it like you said. My hair just fell out because of the chemo drugs on was on, it wasn't stress related or anything. It's coming back thicker, which I'm actually quite pleased about. I don't really want to do anything that'll damage it, but at the same time I'd like it to be longer lol. I'm willing to wait for it to grow to bob length though if it only takes half a year!
Thanks alot for you advice :)
