my car cuts out after only driving for a short time. It will rev itself massively before giving up and taking several minutes to start again. Any ideas?

This is quite a useful troubleshooting guide, just click on S for stalling, E for engine starts & stops etc http://www.carcareclinic.com/WelcomeCarCareClinic.asp
OK, i have had the same problem. I was told that it was the idle air control valve. Not sure what it would cost to repair it, a friend of mine replaced the defective item for me, free of charge. Always good to know people!

I had the same problem with my saxo westcoast.when i fitted a K n N induction kit to the main air inlet, i tightened it up too much. this made the inlet go out of shape and let air get in through the sides. it made the car do the same as yours. all i had to do is loosen it off and it was fine. cost me 90 quid at a garage though cos i didn't know what it was. 50 for a diagnostic which showed nothing and the rest for them to find the fault. hope its a help
