made the stupid mistake of waking away from the atm and forgetting to take my money just wondered is there a time lapse if the money isnt taken does the machine take it back

There is a time lapse before the machine pulls the money back but I don't know how long. If you're lucky your money might be OK. I did this once too. When I asked at the bank, they said my money was back on my account, though I must add that I was at the ATM outside my bank.

Depends what kind of ATM it was. Some take the money back where it goes into a 'purge' bin and some don't, the next person that comes along gets a nice surprise.

I also did this once.

I went into the bank the next day and they checked the ATM and it had taken the money back.

If you do a balance on your account it should tell you if the money was taken out.

Once happened to me as well. Heavens - are we all so forgetful?? I walked away after collecting my card, and a woman shouted to me that I'd forgotten the cash. It was only �50 - but enough! I was grateful of her honesty.

I can't remember the last time I drew money from an ATM. We tend to use cashback at a supermarket which is more secure. Unforntunately many times the cashier has genuinely forgotten to remove the cash from the till.

Let me get this straight:
you have gone to an ATM, presumably with the intent to withdraw cash. You have inserted your card, entered your PIN and then selected cash withdrawal and the amount required. You have removed your card............. and then just walked away without your money !
What the Hell did you think you were there for in the first place ?
It is like going to a supermarket, paying for your shopping, then walking out, leaving your trolley full of shopping behind.
The word stupid does not begin to do justice......................

I did it once, because I requested a mini statement first, and was staring at it trying to work out why the balance was so bad, and I forgot to take the money.

Luckily the next lady called me back.

I have done it as well and the money went back in the machine i have also left bags of shopping in the supermarket and also left a bag on a trolley at Gatwick after a flight from Spain and took the train to Victoria Station - and the airport put it on the next train to London = how good is that? - forgetful moi?
