I have just spent an hour juggling between Barclay's online banking and Barclay's telephone banking trying to transfer funds into my ING savings account. They simply would not do it in the end I had a strop over the phone and hung up. Are these two institutions connected to each other in any way as in being a part of some gigantic financial conglomerate?? Please could everyone avoid trelling me that it is for my own security in the face of online fraud as I am aware of that until my ears are ready to drop off. Thanks.
i have an ing account but to get money from my lloyds account to it i have to do it the other way round - ie make the request FROM my ing account. They only let you set up bank accounts to ask for money from by you sending them a cheque from that bank account first. I cannot do anything from the lloyds end
Thank you for your help. I already have a connected account with ING and they are preparing a Direct Debit to service it which will help.
I did manage a partial success with Barclays in the end but either by telephone or online it is just not worth the effort that it takes.
Can't wait for the next Quality of Service Assessment form that they send me !! But of course it is all intended for MY security I know. etc. etc.
Bednobs' response explains it. It looks as if you have to do it via ING. I have the same with my B&B account- to pay into it I have to do it via B&B who then request the money from my linked account with another bank. If you don't like it I suggest you contact ING not Barclays
I eventually managed it in two goes via Barclat's but ING have not yet caught up with the D. Debit on the connected account for the ex-Icelanders. All done in the end but many thanks for your advice for the future.
