I have a Bush HD TV and Sky+. When I went to put on an old tape of Torvill & Dean, the TV won't change to allow me to do this. It was all tuned in properly when we got the set but I haven't used it for a while.
Can anyone tell me how to view a tape or what has gone wrong. I've checked all the Scarts etc at the back and everything looks OK. Help!!

If the VHS is connected directly to one of the scart sockets, you need to tell the TV to display that input.

There will be some sort of input select button, which scrolls through the various inputs. It may be marked with a screen and an arrow into or out of the screen.

It may be necessary to disconnect something like the Sky box, and plug the VHS in that socket instead.
Some combinations of devices (e.g. DVD players, VCRs, TVs, Sky boxes, etc) allow the receiving device (in your case, the TV) to recognise the presence of an incoming signal from the sending device (the VCR with your set up). Other combinations require the receiving device to be told to accept the incoming signal.

Check that the TV is not switched to any numbered channel. It needs to be switched to 'AV' or whatever other label your particular handset uses for this function. (It might be 'AV1', 'AV2', 'Line In', 'L1', 'L2', 'Ext', 'Aux' or something else similar).

Why didn`t you record the Torvil and Dean Bolero thing on Saturday night with sky+?

My mother in law has sky+ but still records things by video, she says sky+ is too complicated

Mother in laws eh?
When I tried to RECORD something, tried to do it from our digital enabled plasma and d when couldn't do that tried with little old telly and a digi box.. Ended up in tears.

Yes, I did record the Saturday night Bolero and have kept it Elvis, but this tape has Barnum, Mack & Mabel etc and is lovely. You just sit watching it with a smile on your face. I can recommend "The Very Best of Torveill & Dean" for any other fans out there
