Top Up Tv Box problem

I have a thomson top up tv box ,we disconnected it from the aerial and mains to decorate behind tv area. When we plugged everything back in the top up box has very faint lights flashing and will not work also the picture is as though no aerial connected. We put aerial in tv instead of box its ok Has anyone any ideas is it dead???? Thanks twinny

Very possibly dead... sounds like a PSU problem (dry capacitor at a guess)

Most electrical equipment will work for ever if it's kept connected to the power. it's when you disconnect it and then reconnect it they are most likely to stop working.

in theory it's probably not a hard fix.... but getting somebody else to do it would probably cost more than a new box.

Thank you for your advice luckily I was offered a deal by top up the day before where if I agreed to take on a second box for half price subscription i could extend the guarantee for my existing box for a year now I just have to wait for new box... lost loads of good progs on library though!!!! thanks twinny
