If my meters to feet conversion is correct, that's about 6,500 feet MSL or so, which is far less than many mountain passes in US.  So the answer is yes.

There are diesel aero engines (supercharged I think rather than turbocharged), and these are of course designed for much more than 2000 m.

 

New Forester is quite correct (as usual) but the diesel aircraft engines became almost obsolete many years ago.  However, new technology has reintroduced such an engine.  Check here...
