Central Heating Boiler not working

I have a Glowworm Ultimate gas boiler, eight years old and not regularly serviced. When I switch on the heating, the pump tries to fire up and keeps switching itself off. The pilot light stays alight. What could it be ? I am getting cold !

sounds like you need a new gas valve!! not a lot you can do except get the gas man round.. sorry :(
