Bank Charges

I was watching Martin Lewis on GMTV this morning saying that you can reclaim your bank charges from as far back as 2001.

In 2003 I went through an awful financial period due to my ex and got myself into debt and incurred �60 bank charges every month for just over a year and a half when I managed to get myself out of it again. I have since closed that bank account but am I able to claim for the charges?
