Printer problems
4 Answers
Hi I'm having problems with my printer. It has been ok for many months and now when I go to print it says there is no printer detected. Although if I scan or copy it works.
It's an HP Deskjet F2180.
I went to print a letter from word and it said I think XP document writer not connecting but I don't have XP document writer as a printer anyway.
I have tried to reinstall the printer with the cd but the same problem is happening.
I'm a complete moron when it comes to computers can just about switch it on.
Any ideas? But not in computer speak as I need it very basic.
Thanks

thanks I've done that twice and although I can scan and make copies I still can't print although I have the new printer setting, as my default printer.
It keeps coming up saying not recognised but when I go into the actual printer settings it says the printer is there and also on the settings section where you go to make copies or scans.
Very strange. I think I'll give up!!! I'm too old for all this.

Nanny a friend and I have have exactly the same printer and we both had the same problem. I expect you have the printed said in word as Tamborine suggests or it wouldn't be showing as your default printer.
When you are installing it did you uninstall the previous drive? When I did this I was able to reinstall both the driver and the printer and no problems since.
Good luck
