What Gas Combi Boiler.

Basically My Boiler went pop, have three different boilers to choose from and am wondering if anyone can give me an insight into which Combi Boilers best value for money and reliable, cheap to run and efficient.

My choices are down to

Worcester Bosche Greenstar 25CDi

Vokera Compact 25He

Glow-Worm Ecotec 26kw.

Im in a three bed house, two bath one kitchen 8 radiators and three inhabitants.

Have no idea about living with these three makes and its a minefield finding out about them.

Hope someone can add to the discussion.

hi ailie read the which mag for sept 07 and sept 08 free at the library on boiler reports from users and not installers. every installer has an angle ( financial in centive from his wholesaler) and so you need to be aware of this.
every one i have spoken to about it recommends W. bosch or valliant, glowworm are produced at the valliant factory.
i would say ditch vokera (aka sabre boilers) from your equation

I have had a Worcester Bosche Fitted exactly 1 year ago and it is Brilliant, Masses of hot water within 7 seconds and heating that is remarkably effective, It is very near silent in operation and I am Highly delighted with it. It's just been serviced and the engineer said it is just like new.

Originaly I fitted my own complete system with 12 rads on three floors of the house. I put a Sime conventional combi in the little bedroom at the top of the house which had two breakdowns in the 6 years it was installed, it was Very noisy in operation so deciding to fit a condensing boiler, I had it fitted in the downstairs toilet which is nearer the kitchen and bathroom. I am really glad I picked the Worcester, it fits well, is smaller then the Sime and you can fit it in a cupboard.
Very economical to run too.

Further to my last post. The reason I had it fitted by a gas installer this time was that I, (although being perfectly capable) am not registered with the gas safety organisation (ex Corgi))

When I fitted my original system it didn't come into it.

I designed the system and bought all the kit through Jewsons, I installed it with all the pipework hidden in walls and under floors, it was inspected by a Corgi installer who said it was one of the best instalations he'de seen and was more then happy to connect the gas up, commision it and sign the safety certificate for me.
This time it was just a case of disconnecting the old boiler and fitting the new one downstairs tapping into the pipework as required.
