Channel 5 Digital 105

I dont always turn on my digi box, but if I do, channel 105 is missing / unobtainable.
A pal told me to turn the TV and box on overnight, but 5 is still absent.
What's going onj here?

It might just re-scanning, as there are often updates and stuff that need to be downloaded. You can normally find out how to do this in your digi-box menu

You've not said which digital service you're using but, since you refer to channel 105, I'll assume that you're referring to using a Sky box or similar equipment (rather than receiving terrestrial Freeview, where Channel 5 is, logically, on channel 5).

Further, I'm assuming that you've not got a Sky subscription, so you're only receiving the free channels.

There are two types of free satellite channels. Most are FTA ('free to air') services. They're not encrypted, so they can be received by any Sky box even without a valid viewing card.

However a few channels (notably the 'Five' group, such as Five and Fiver) are FTV ('free to view') services. Such services are encrypted. While you don't need a subscription to watch them, you do need a valid viewing card. You can order a card, for a one-off payment of �19.57, from Sky by phoning 08448 244 400.

just to add - if you're in Ireland (you don't say either way) channel 105 doesn't exist.

My free Grundig Sky box from a few years back, (what a load of rubbish - capacitors had to be changed), when I had a one year subscription form Sky was playing up again. A pal lent me a spare Freeview box. pending arrival of new aerials in the UK sheltered flat I live in. Using it, have fouind 105 on in the past.
I assume I will have to wait till the new arrangement is installed..
