"Internal error" on Laptop

Internal error keeps getting displayed in an icon that won't go away every single time I switch my laptop on, it states that I need to go in and switch on the "intrusion prevention". When I check on one screen it states that this is already turned on (green ticked), and in the other one it states that it isn't (red cross).

It obviously isn't turned on properly for it to register as "on" where it matters, but cannot for the life of me figure out what to do now. I tried calling Symantec, this was a waste of time, hung on forever for no-one to answer my call.

All I need is someone to advise what I should do, I have ran a system scan, and a liveupdate, Norton security updates the lot - these haven't cleared the error either. It appears in an icon every single time the L/Top gets switched on. Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you get around it?

TIA
Roosi

Have you got Ad-Aware and Spybot? If not they are free anti spyware downloads and I would recommend that you get them and update them. Then come offline and scan with them, If it is still there, try scanning with them in safe mode.

Also try Advanced Sysytemcare free. That is pretty good too.

You may have some spyware or malware on there.

you were doing so well until you got to the registry cleaner ...

total rubbish - only 2 options
1 you get away with it
2 it ruins your system

I don't know of a single pro whu uses one - and the techie mags don't even review or acknowledge their existence
