No claims compensation
5 Answers
My car is hit when parked. Other driver liable. Does her insurer pay out for my excess on my policy for the first x of any claim by me? Does her insurer pay out for my consequent loss of 'no claims bonus' ? Both are expenses which I now incur consequent upon her negligence. If her insurer does not pay for either or both, how should I proceed?

I had, in the back of my mind, such things as 'knock for knock agreements' and a 'no claim bonus' being a 'no claim, not a no blame, bonus'' In this case there can be no doubt that the other party is 100 per cent at fault . I will however, use one of the repairers recommended and used by my insurers, just to avoid any silly arguments about the cost of the claim.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I never accept their repairman, I always insist that my car was bought from a Citreon garage is maintened by the same garage and the repair will be done there, they even had to add my dealer's garage to their approved repair list but I was not at fault the other party was and the insurers accepted this.Dont settle for second best.
If you have Comprehensive insurance and are having the repair done through your own insurance company then you will probably have to pay the repairing garage your policy excess and recover it from the Third Party yourself or through your uninsured loss company if you have one. Nine times out of ten your insurers will also reduce your no claims bonus until they have recovered the amount they paid out from the Third PArty. This wont affect you unless the matter is stilloutstanding when your renewal date comes round - your renewal premium will be offered with a lower no claim discount but you should get the difference refunded by your insurer once the Third Party have paid up.
