How am I supposed get anywhere without a degree?

Im looking at a new career path, I'm 25 now I've worked since I was 16 in childcare and have all the relevent qualifications that you need. However, looking into teaching, Pediatric care and midwifery... you need a degree to get onto any course which i obviously lack... and was hoping anyone oculd shed some light on how exactly im supposed to make a career for myself without having to go through 2 or 3 years of courses JUST to get onto a 3 year course....? I'll be tearing my hair out soon!! lol

I presume you don't have A levels?

If I can remember correctly I think you can do an 'Access to Health' course which is the equivalent to A levels. Then apply for the relevent course from that.

when I did that sort of thing as a post grad our departments offered Ba as well as BSc options - social sciences - as well as clinical

your local should have adult entrant courses - it's not like school - it becomes a social thing as well ... not like the babies who attend - most will be real people with personalities and everything

you'll find you miss it when not there - and it gives you a real edge when it comes to other study - which will be ongoing if you go medical

I think most give an under grad certificate after the first year - most employers see it as a statement of commitment - and could well accept you as an intern

you might also find that the student nurse thing allows for on the job study

to rephrase tam's gem - if it's worth having it's to be worked for
otherwise settle for the rubber gloves and soft paper (there's nothing wrong with that job either - someone has to)
