Not sure whether to leave my house now.

I have given my notice in and have got til the end of the month. At the time my landlady said why didn't I just stay and claim housing benefit and I said because I didn't want to mess her around as I have done that before.

Now I'm thinking maybe I should take her up on the offer. Bit embarassing to ask but shouldn't worry about my pride should I? Don't ask you don't know!

What do you think peeps?

The other option is go and stay with my mum but the thing is I'm used to living away from parents now, wouldn't be able to pay her any rent and she lives 50 miles away and I would rather stay in the town I am in as I like it here. Or another option is see if I can find work abroad.

I think we established that working abroad is not an option at the moment as you can't afford it.

You've paid your taxes so you'll be entitled to housing benefit while you look for another job.
Karma,if you have any skills or Q,why dont you go to canada or Oz,as these countrys are not in recession.

At the moment.
Good luck, wathever you deside to do.
you need to have a skill that is on the desired skill list or a degree.

you also need a heck of a lot of money, I have a relative who moved to canada a few years back. they have also tightened up on immigration.

why not stay at the flat on housing benefit and look for another job instead?

Thanks for your answers.

Yeah I suppose staying in the house and looking for another job is my best option at the moment.

I just feel like I might be missing opportunity to do something mad like go abroad and work - haven't researched it that thoroughly and will do so in the next few days as you never know there may be some expenses paid jobs out there I just don't know.

As I've figured out I don't like change that much though, if I stayed here at least I would have some normality and would have just lost my job rather than my job and my home.

xx

karma.....you were undecided bout your job - then chucked it. Now its your home you want to leave?

Never close a door till another opens! Be positive, find a job 2moro to pay your way; its easier to plan next move with money in hand.

Yeah I didn't really want to put my landlady through the hassle of paying housing benefit as done that before was a bit of a palava. It's not like I'm a stranger just moving in with housing benefit though and she knows me so perhaps its not such a pain in the butt for her if I do go on housing benefit as long as she gets rent paid it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Had an interview at Wilkonsons today but its only 15hrs and temp but at least if I get it its money and I may be able to get some more part time hrs alongside it.
Karma....many landlords don't mind housing benefits as it's guaranteed money.

yeah thats true ummmm. Thanks xx :-) I might speak to her tomorrow to see if I can stay.
Landlords dont receive the benefit monies directly as its paid to the SS person and its for them to pay the landlord.....or not.
Why don't you do 2 of your 3 options, i.e stay where you are, pride comes before a fall! Take up your landlady's offer, she obviously likes you or wouldn't have suggested it. No point in going home if you don't want to be 50 miles away from where you are happy. You could also look for a job abroad whilst you stay. Good luck!
